Q.David Bower's began this book with a desire to pass on to others some of the interesting things that he has discovered in his lifelong study of numismatics. This is a collection of "adventures" telling the background and history of 50 of what the author feels are the most interesting coins or numismatic events he has encountered - a sequel to his popular 1979 book - "Adventures With Rare Coins."
The first story coincerns the Massachusetts Pine Tree Shilling - dated 1652. Setting the tone for the remainder of the volume this first tale gave not only background looks but fascinating sidebar glimpses into our country's first coins rarely seen elsewhere.
