This book represents a giant leap forward in the study of Flying Eagle and Indian cent die varieties. It gives a wealth of information and superb photomicrographs to aid in the identification process. While it is not the first book to describe these small cents by die variety, it is by far the most informative. That is not to say the book is complete - far from it - it was not intended to be comprehensive. Any attempt to describe every die variety in this series is many years in the future - but this book is a giant leap forward. Preparing comprehensive attribution guides is an iterative process, with new discoveries being added all the time. Even the cents of 1794, which have been closely studied for over 125 years, had a new variety discovered in 1994. So will it be a century from now with these smaller cents.
Study - be patient, and keep a sharp eye out for new die varieties - let the discoveries begin - and have fun in the process. (Excerpts from the forward by JR "Bob" Grellman, Jr)
