Lt. Col. the Ritter KG van Schultess-Rechberg - a Bohemian nobleman, assembled during the first half of the 19th century, one of the most extraordinary collections of Talers, Gulden and related pieces ever to be formed. Not contented with merely collecting, he devoted much of the last 25 years of his life to the compilation of an authoritative standard work on this subject.
From 1840 to 1862, serial installments of his massive work covered the Empires, Kingdoms, Spiritual Lords and just the alphabetical beginning of the Old Princely Houses, in over 7500 entries. Each was meticulously catalogued and each coin-issuing entity and each coin-issuing individual's position was set forth in full and clear perspective. References were given to earlier works, particularly Madai's basic catalogue published a century earlier, and there was an earnest effort to give relative indications of rarity.
If you can read German and are interested in this type of coin, this is a great book. The only picture of a coin anywhere is on the dustjacket.
